BASS Mentorship Program
The BASS Mentorship Program (BMP) helps to integrate incoming first-year business students into the Beedie community at Simon Fraser University by matching two first-year students with a senior student mentor. Through the program and four pillar events, you will be exposed to various opportunities to grow as a student leader, have support to navigate your first semester and gain mentorship from an engaged senior student.
Over the last 7 years, BMP has had the honour to facilitate the personal development for over 700 first year mentees and we are excited to continue providing quality events and programming for Beedie's incoming class of 2022!
BMP 2018-2019 will be running from Sept 28, 2018, to Feb 1, 2019, which contains four Pillar Events listed below:
First Steps is the first chance you have to meet your Mentor for the first time and build relationships with other first-year students and senior Beedie students in BMP.
Mentor Swap is a one-day event where you will have a chance to expand your network and meet other senior mentors in BMP with work, co-curricular and academic experiences you may be interested in.
Pitch-Off is a capstone event where you have the opportunity to practice and perfect an elevator pitch for yourself. You will while gaining useful feedback from industry professionals in a safe space. This is often the first "formal-networking" event for most Mentees.
Wrap Up Party is a celebration of achievements and cheers for completing your first successful semester and BMP!
Our vision this year is to foster a culture that encourages Mentors and Mentees to engage in the diverse opportunities that are available to them. If you are excited to learn more about all the different opportunities available at Beedie in a warm and safe learning environment, the BASS Mentorship Program is perfect for you!
